Stories of our Streets is a storytelling project exploring – through guided walks, talks, books and zines – the past of our homes and streets in Stoke Newington, Hackney, Islington and surrounding areas.

For twenty years I undertook academic research on histories of homes and on folklore and local beliefs. I continue to explore everyday life in the past, including the social history of the places we live and the ways found objects and physical traces help people imaginatively reconstruct past lives. I also have a particular interest in how ghost stories and experiences of the uncanny can offer vivid portals into forgotten local histories.
