Hidden Stokey Walks
‘I was enthralled by Caron’s walk and loved adding depth and historic colour to the Stoke Newington I have loved now for over 30 years. From royal connections to missing skulls, the walk was woven with fascinating details and dry wit that Caron deploys to create an entertaining tapestry of Stokey’s past. You’ll rarely spend a more interesting few hours!”

Join me for THREE local history tours with a difference!
The Hidden Stokey Walks explore objects of different kinds – lost, found or imagined. We will encounter ancient things, lost burial grounds, tunnel legends and other local lore. We will hunt for bodies out of place, animal bones and find lost rivers and unearthed treasure. All in one small area of Stoke Newington!
Each walk – Hidden Stokey Parts 1, 2 and 3 – takes in turn a section of a linear route from Stoke Newington Common to St Mary’s Old Churchyard. Although not strictly necessary, the walks are best done consecutively. They take an average 1 hr 45 mins (give or take) and will usually take place monthly on Sunday early afternoons. The walks are generally flat with a few steps and roads to cross, and potentially (very) muddy dips into Abney Park Cemetery and Clissold Park.
